Clematises

A number of Clematises act like perennials. They climb moderately and flower fairly late.

Passionflowers

Of the passionflowers, Passiflora caerulea is perhaps the best choice for growing outside and still ideally in mild regions. The ivory white 'Constance Elliott' can also be grown outdoors in a very sheltered sunny spot.

European hop

European hop, Humulus lupulus is a true perennial. The female plants bear magnificent hops, but that does create the risk that they will go to seed. However the yellow-leaved variety 'Aureus', is an attractive foliage plant with a lot of growing power.

Lathyrus latifolius

Lathyrus latifolius is attractive because of it is pink, red or white flowers. This plant does not grow taller than 1.5 m.
