Fruit

It looks fantastic, and nothing tastes as good as fruit that you have grown yourself: fresh, in jam, stewed or in delicious pies and pastries. You can grow fruit at home in pots on the patio or balcony, on plants which are simply mixed in with the ornamental plantings, or in a special fruit area.

Fruit in your garden

Once you have been bitten by the bug for producing edible fruit you won’t want to give it up. You’ll always want something growing in the garden, even if it is just strawberry plants in a pot. Normally fruit species are divided into two major groups: top fruit (everything that grows on trees, including apples, pears, plums, cherries and peaches) and soft fruit (including berries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries).

Rose family

Nearly all the fruit trees that are grown in our climate are members of the rose family. Nuts are an exception, and are actually not classified as fruit but as a separate group of fruits.
